Gravity exploration presupposes that there is a difference in density between the object of study and the surrounding rock.

It can be summarized in one sentence: by removing the influence of various factors unrelated to the object of study from the observed values, it is possible to obtain gravity anomalies generated solely by mineral or tectonic and other density inhomogeneities, and by interpreting the anomalies it is possible to achieve the purpose of prospecting for minerals and exploring for minerals.

Scope of application - It is mainly used to investigate the geological structure of oil and gas-bearing prospective areas, study deep tectonics and regional geological structure; and search for metal ores in conjunction with other physical exploration methods. In recent years, it has also been applied in urban engineering environment.

The Work Tasks of Gravity Exploration in Mineral Prospecting

1. The task of gravity exploration is broadly divided into four stages.

2. A pre-survey is a large-scale, small-scale gravity survey carried out in an exploration gap area with the aim of obtaining information on the basic contours of the geotectonics in a relatively short period of time. (Filling information gaps)

Gravity exploration needs to be refined repeatedly at multiple working scales, making the work burdensome.

The working scale of gravity prospecting should generally be adapted to the task at hand and also take into account the characteristics of the gravity anomalies generated by the object of exploration. The larger the scale, the more measurement points there are per unit area, and the more detailed the study of gravity anomalies will be.
