1 Product Overview

The GW-VIFR10M free-running single-photon detector module for visible light is an independently developed single-photon detector by our company, capable of detecting extremely weak light at the single-photon level. Among its features, the typical detection efficiency for 850nm single photons is ≥65%, the afterpulse rate is ≤5%, the dark count rate is ≤500 cps, and the timing jitter is ≤500 ps.

The GW-VIFR10M single-photon detector utilizes active quenching and active recovery technologies to achieve rapid suppression of avalanche signals, thereby reducing the module's dark counts and afterpulses. This product can be applied in fields of single-photon detection such as single-photon lidar, quantum key distribution, single-photon imaging, and fluorescence detection, featuring high speed, stability, and user-friendly interfaces. The output count pulses can provide a data source for subsequent optical pulse recovery and data post-processing by users.

2.1 Optical Fiber Signal Input

Simply connect the optical fiber output of the light source directly to the optical fiber input of the device. It should be noted here that the device internally uses FC/PC connectors with 780 nm wavelength, 5 µm core diameter single-mode optical fiber, so the pigtail of the light source needs to match. Additionally, the wavelength of the light source must be between 400 nm and 900 nm for the detector to respond.

2.2 Electrical Signal Output

The GW-VIFR10M free-running single-photon detector module for visible light is a single-photon detector operating in free-running mode. Once powered, the device generates an electrical signal output upon light intensity input (in the absence of light input, the output electrical signal corresponds to the device's dark count). The output electrical signal can be connected to TDC instruments, oscilloscopes, and other application devices. The electrical signal output interface is an SMA interface (for output electrical characteristics, refer to Table 1).
