
The First Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area Quantum Technology and Industrial Application Seminar
In-depth exchanges were conducted around the theme of 'Exploring Quantum Technology and Promoting Industrial Development.' The conference focused on the forefront progress and industrial applications of quantum technology. Professor Luo Le from Sun Yat-sen University pointed out that the ion trap is currently the only physical system that simultaneously meets the core criteria of quantum computing and quantum networks, offering significant advantages in large-scale quantum computing and quantum network construction. Professor Wu Guolin from South China University of Technology emphasized that quantum technology will trigger profound transformations, from resources to ways of thinking, and called on research institutions in the Greater Bay Area to strengthen their quantum technology layout under government support, while also establishing an innovation platform that interacts with philosophy.

To celebrate the 100th anniversary of the birth of quantum mechanics, the United Nations General Assembly has designated 2025 as the "International Year of Quantum Science and Technology" (IYQ). The Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area Quantum Science Center, as a supporting partner of IYQ activities, in collaboration with the Chinese Physical Society and Tsinghua University, will hold the "International Quantum Year Greater Bay Area Activity Week and the 4th Greater Bay Area Quantum Science Forum" (referred to as the "International Quantum Week") from November 21 to 27 this year in Shenzhen and Hong Kong, China.
This week-long event is themed "A Century of Quantum, Innovating the Future," focusing on quantum science and technology and concentrating on frontier theoretical and experimental research in areas such as quantum matter, quantum computing, precision measurement, integrated devices and chips, as well as artificial intelligence and quantum technology. The event aims to promote academic exchange, accelerate the transformation of innovative achievements, and advance global cooperation while addressing significant technological challenges in the field. Attendees include experts from international organizations, as well as scholars and industry representatives in the quantum domain from both home and abroad.
The International Quantum Week features multiple event segments, including an opening ceremony, a main forum, sub-forums, thematic activities, and an exhibition on quantum technology and industry.
